Use One Page Heading in Webflow

  1. Open your Webflow project and navigate to the page where you want to ensure a single primary heading is used.
  2. Locate the main title of the page on the canvas—this should be the element that best represents the page’s primary topic.
  3. Select this element and check the Element Settings panel (press D) or the Style panel to confirm its tag.
  4. In the Element Settings panel, open the Tag dropdown and set this main title to H1.
  5. Scan the rest of the page for any additional elements currently set as H1:
    • Select each heading you find.
    • Open the Tag dropdown in the Settings panel.
    • Change any extra H1 tags to H2 or lower levels based on content hierarchy.
  6. If text elements are styled to visually look like a main heading but should not be an H1, adjust their tag to H2–H6, then use the Style panel to match the desired appearance.
  7. Verify the content hierarchy:
    • H1 appears once at the top-level.
    • Section titles use H2.
    • Sub-sections use H3–H4 as appropriate.
  8. Open the Navigator panel and visually confirm only one H1 is present across the page structure.
  9. Enter Preview mode to check that all headings appear correctly and the design still matches the intended layout.
  10. Publish the site and run a final check using your browser’s accessibility inspector to ensure only one H1 is detected in the live version.
