Maintain Consistent Navigation in Squarespace
- Open your Squarespace site and navigate to any page with your site header, then click Edit to enter editing mode.
- Hover over the header area and click Edit Site Header to open the header editor.
- Confirm the header is set as a Global Header:
- Look for the “Global” label at the top of the header settings panel.
- If it’s not global, click the dropdown and choose Make Global so it appears consistently on all pages.
- Review the navigation links inside the header:
- Click the Navigation list.
- Verify all links use consistent names across pages (e.g., “About,” not “About Us” on some pages).
- Confirm each link points to the correct page using the link settings.
- Check the site title or logo:
- Select the logo → open Settings.
- Ensure it links to the homepage.
- Review mobile navigation:
- Click Mobile in the header editor preview.
- Select the hamburger icon → open Settings.
- Add an Accessibility Label such as “Open Menu.”
- Open the mobile menu → verify menu items match the desktop version exactly.
- Check additional navigation elements such as footer menus:
- Scroll to the footer → click Edit Footer.
- Ensure the footer navigation uses the same structure and naming convention as the header, if applicable.
- Switch to other pages using the page sidebar and confirm the header appears in the same position with the same links and styling.
- If any page shows a different header:
- Enter that page → click the header → open the dropdown.
- Select the global header to replace a page-specific header.
- Click Preview and navigate across pages to verify that the navigation layout, labels, and links remain identical and respond consistently in desktop and mobile modes.
- Save and publish your changes, then test on the live site to confirm navigation consistency across all pages and devices.
