Add Alt Text to Important Images in GoDaddy Website Builder

  1. Open your site in GoDaddy Website Builder and navigate to the page that contains the important images you want to update.
  2. Select the image you want to edit. The right-hand settings panel will open automatically.
  3. Click Image Settings or Settings depending on the block type.
  4. Locate the Alt Text field in the sidebar.
  5. Enter a clear, meaningful description that communicates the image’s purpose (e.g., “Portrait of founder Maya Lee,” “Product photo of handcrafted leather journal”).
  6. If the image functions as a link or button:
    • Write alt text that describes the action, not the appearance (e.g., “View Services,” “Go to Portfolio”).
  7. If the image appears inside a Gallery block:
    • Open the gallery → select each image → add appropriate alt text using the same field.
  8. If the image is part of a Product in GoDaddy’s store:
    • Go to the product settings → upload or select the image → fill in the Alt Text field.
  9. For background images applied to sections:
    • Select the section → open Background.
    • Background images cannot have alt text, so add any important information as visible text within the same section.
  10. Repeat the process for all important images on the page to ensure each has accurate and useful alt text.
  11. Switch to Mobile view and check any mobile-specific images; add alt text to those as well.
  12. Use Preview to ensure all meaningful images have descriptive alt text and decorative images remain unlabeled.
  13. Publish the page to apply all changes to the live site.
