Keep Sections Ordered in Wix

  1. Open your site in the Wix Editor and navigate to the page you want to organize.
  2. Open the Layers panel from the left toolbar to view the full structure of the page.
  3. Identify all major page sections (strips, containers, page blocks). These should appear as top-level items in the Layers panel.
  4. Drag any out-of-place sections into the correct reading order from top to bottom:
    • Hero or header content at the top,
    • Main content sections in sequence,
    • Footer at the bottom.
  5. Select each section and click SettingsAccessibility.
  6. Assign appropriate roles in the Landmark field:
    • Header for the top header area (only once),
    • Main for the primary content region (only once),
    • Section for major content blocks,
    • Footer for the bottom page area.
  7. Avoid nesting major sections inside each other. If a section contains multiple content blocks, add Containers or Boxes inside it rather than additional sections.
  8. Check headings inside each section:
    • Each section should begin with an H2 (or appropriate heading level),
    • Subcontent uses H3–H4 as needed.
  9. Switch to Mobile view and confirm that the section order remains correct. Reorder sections in the Layers panel if necessary, as mobile layouts sometimes shift content.
  10. Click Preview and scroll through the page to ensure the visual and logical order match from top to bottom.
  11. Publish your site and use your browser’s accessibility inspector to confirm landmarks appear once and in the correct reading sequence.
