Label All Controls in Wix
- Open your Wix Editor and navigate to the page containing the controls you want to label (form fields, buttons, toggles, icons, or interactive elements).
- Select the first control on the canvas. A blue bounding box will appear around the selected element.
- Look in the right-hand panel and click Settings for the selected element.
- For form fields (text input, email, dropdown, checkbox):
- Open Form Field Settings.
- Locate the Title or Label field.
- Enter a clear, descriptive label (e.g., “Email Address”, “Full Name”, “Order Message”).
- For buttons:
- Double-click the button text and rewrite it to match a clear action (e.g., “Submit Form”, “Start Checkout”).
- Open Settings and confirm the Button Name is descriptive for accessibility.
- For icon buttons or decorative controls acting as triggers (e.g., hamburger menu, close icon):
- Select the element → Settings.
- Locate the Accessibility section.
- Add a descriptive label using the What’s this element for? field (e.g., “Open Menu”, “Close Modal”).
- For images used as links or buttons:
- Open Settings → Accessibility.
- Add an Alt Text label describing the control’s purpose, not just the image (e.g., “Go to Services Page”).
- Repeat steps 2–7 for every interactive element across the page, ensuring each label clearly communicates its function.
- Switch to Mobile view and verify that all controls still show correct labels in the mobile layout. Adjust if necessary using the same steps.
- Publish the site and use your browser’s accessibility inspector to confirm that each control is labeled and announced properly by assistive technologies.
