Perform the 60-Second Tab Test in Wix
- Publish your site using the Publish button in the top-right corner of the Wix Editor so the most recent version is live.
- Open the published page in a new browser tab to perform the test on the live version.
- Click anywhere near the top of the page to ensure the browser window has keyboard focus.
- Press the Tab key once and observe which element receives focus. Confirm a clear and visible focus indicator appears.
- Continue pressing Tab repeatedly for 60 seconds, moving through all interactive elements on the page:
- Buttons
- Links and menu items
- Form fields and dropdowns
- Icons acting as buttons (e.g., close icons, arrows)
- Sliders and galleries
- Watch for issues during navigation:
- Elements that never receive focus,
- Focus rings that are missing or difficult to see,
- Unexpected jumps in focus order,
- Interactive elements requiring a mouse to operate.
- Press Shift + Tab and ensure reverse navigation works correctly without skipping elements.
- Open any modals, menus, or lightboxes and continue tabbing to confirm focus is not trapped or lost.
- Return to the Wix Editor to fix any issues found:
- Enable or adjust Show focus ring under Accessibility,
- Add descriptive labels to unlabeled elements,
- Ensure elements are keyboard accessible via their Accessibility settings,
- Replace non-focusable custom elements with proper buttons or links if necessary.
- Republish the site and repeat the 60-second tab test to verify all fixes work consistently across the page.
